WHYMPER STUBE

Rustic and legendary

Michel Reybier Hospitality will take over the management of the popular Whymper Stube restaurant from its longstanding owners, Ueli and Barbara Liechti Lauber, who are retiring. The tried and tested team and the gastronomic offer of the traditional restaurant in the four-star superior Hotel Monte Rosa in Zermatt will remain unchanged.

The Whymper-Stube is renowned for its authentic Swiss cuisine, ranging from hearty cheese fondue to raclette and rösti. The traditional dishes and local specialities are accompanied by selected regional wines and spirits. The interior, with its warm wood tones, plaids, exquisite antiques and historic paintings, evokes the fascinating story of the legendary first ascent of the Matterhorn and the restaurant’s namesake, Edward Whymper. The restaurant will be managed by Roland Himmelberger, former manager of the South American restaurant 1818 Eat & Drink, which is also part of Michel Reybier Hospitality’s culinary offering in Zermatt.

The restaurant will be open daily from 11AM to 11PM.
